How to identify the quality of artificial turf products

Artificial turf products, due to the difference in material costs, have significant variations in quality after being made into finished products. Generally speaking, the quality can be judged by its appearance.

Let’s first talk about what characteristics high-quality artificial turf has;

High-quality artificial turf is usually produced from raw materials, with sufficient anti-aging agents added, excellent weather resistance and UV resistance, BASF antioxidants and slipperers. The product surface has good gloss and a smooth touch. Color durability: Anti-aging additives reduce pigment decomposition, maintaining the fresh green appearance of the lawn for a long time and avoiding yellowing or fading caused by ultraviolet rays. After reducing maintenance costs and slowing down the aging process, the lawn is less likely to powderize or fall off, and the frequency of cleaning and maintenance is reduced. It is especially suitable for large sports venues or public places with high usage frequency.

The back adhesive is generally chosen to be Dow styrene-butadiene latex from the United States
Dow back adhesive features high strength bonding and durability
Excellent adhesion: Dow styrene-butadiene latex can firmly bond artificial grass fibers to the base fabric (such as PP/PE fibers and mesh fabric), reduce grass fiber shedding, and extend the service life of the lawn.
Resistance to repeated impacts: The cured adhesive layer is flexible and wear-resistant, capable of withstanding long-term trampling and friction from machinery (such as the frequent use in sports venues), preventing the adhesive backing from cracking or powdering.

Poor-quality artificial turf generally has the following characteristics;
It is not produced from raw materials. The leftover recycled materials from waste are used for re-drawing. The standards for adding anti-aging agents are not up to standard, and the back adhesive will not be added according to the minimum standards either. This will cause the grass fibers to break easily, have weak resistance to pulling, and even fall off by themselves. The grass fibers have a dull appearance, poor simulation and a very strong plastic feel. After the paving is put into use, generally, the grass fibers will fall off, weather and crack in the second half of the year. In some even worse cases, the above situations will occur almost every two or three months.

To sum up; The quality of the lawn is closely related to its service life. A high-quality lawn can last for 5 to 10 years under normal use, while a poor-quality lawn will develop serious quality problems within two or three months and cannot be repaired. This requires that when purchasing artificial turf products, we must first obtain product samples for a careful understanding and observation, and then make an assessment based on the above standards. Make wise choices with caution.
